Happy Thanksgiving

I love this holiday because it is a time to get together with family and friends.  I love the sharing of savory foods and wine.  Our family goes to our church for Thanksgiving where everyone brings something.  It was started because so many of us do not have relatives in town.  What’s great is that we don’t have to clean our house!  I always bring a turkey and while at church brew the bones for the turkey vegetable soup made each Thanksgiving Eve.  The huge stockpot of soup is packaged in sealer bags and stacked up in the freezer to enjoy all winter especially for ski weekends in the mountains.

It smells wonderful when everyone’s creations come together into a huge meal.  Isn’t it fun to try new dishes?  I’m trying two new recipes this year.  One is a Green Chili Corn Pudding that I found on the Whole Foods website.  Another is a stuffing recipe with mushrooms and Italian sausage.  Mmmm it all sounds good but maybe I’m hungry.

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for the blessings we have and thank God for the blessings we will be given in the future.  Many people do not feel grateful.  The easiest way to get into a gratitude mentality is to write down what you are grateful for each day or at least each week.

I use SendOutCards to stay in touch with friends.  After the first year of using the system, I realized my sense of gratitude was enhanced because I was always looking for ways to say thank you to people.  It is much more fun to live life with a sense of gratitude and joy than being negative.  Your attitude is a habit that can be changed but like all habits it takes repetition.  Have a great Thanksgiving!
