Ways to Reduce Stress – Step 1

Spend a little time identifying all the things that make you stressed in your day-to-day-life.

Write in a journal.  Especially make note of when you feel stressed.  Review my blog from yesterday telling about the signs of stress.  Here are some additional things to consider.

  • When do you feel nervous?
  • When do you feel your shoulders tighten?
  • Notice your face.  When is your face tight (especially the forehead)? When is your jaw tight?
  • When do you notice your breathing is shallow?  When does your breath quicken?
  • When do you lose patience?

Identify the source of stress.  What excuses do you have for being stressed?

  • Do you blame your stress on other people or events?
  • Do you blame others when you don’t plan enough time in your schedule for activities?
  • Do you often say that your stress is temporary?
  • Do you see stress as a normal part of your family life or your personality?
  • Are you tired?

Write down your findings and review often.  Try to minimize doing them.  The next blog will discuss how to reduce the stress you feel.  Today the most important thing is to BECOME AWARE of what makes you stressed.
